Narva City Government announce the competition on the monument project in honor of the prominent chess player Paul Keres.

 

The goal of competition to select the best monument project which is to be installed on 90th anniversary of P. Keres. The monument is planned to be located in the city centre on Kerese street.

Competition award id 50 000 Estonian crones. The competition is open, anonymous and one-stage.

Paul Keres was born on January 1916. He was the champion of the USSR in 1947, 1950, 1951. He took part and won many international competitions. He became the grand master of the USSR in 1941, honored sport master in 1948, international grand master in 1949 and international referee in 1957. His name was given to the one of the Narva streets. There are also the chess garden and three chess clubs.

In the Narva Art gallery 14 June an exhibition of all works taking part in competition at 16.00 opens, where will open envelopes and will announce names of the winners of competition. The exhibition will be prolonged till June 30.
